Ken Timmerman Has Been Nominated Vice Chair of the Peer Leadership Council for NAMI National


Ken Timmerman has been nominated Vice Chair of the Peer Leadership Council for NAMI National until 2020.

The Peer Leadership Council is made up of individuals who live with mental illness and who are elected by NAMI State Organizations. Every state has one representative and one alternate.

NAMI Nebraska Welcomes a New Office Manager – Carrin Meadows

Carrin Meadows is the New NAMI Nebraska Office ManagerNAMI Nebraska would like to give a warm welcome to our new Office Manager, Carrin Meadows. Carrin’s past professional experiences include Human Resource Generalist, Executive Assistant and Office Manager. Her diverse professional background will allow her to adapt to any situation that arises. She is a dedicated office management professional with experience in handling a diverse range of administrative, human resource and executive-support responsibilities.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR NAMI HOMEFRONT ONLINE CLASSES

NAMI Homefront is a free, six-session class for family, friends and significant others of Military Service Members and Veterans. The class helps families comprehend what the Military Service Member/ Veteran is experiencing related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life, PTSD and other mental health conditions. Topics covered include mental health, communication, handling crises, treatment and recovery.

Tom has been an amazing asset to NAMI Nebraska. Tom spent a great deal of time heading the volunteer groups and educating the public about mental illness. A true advocate and a blessing to our organization. Tom will be retiring at the end of May. We wish Tom the best and he will truly be missed.

CIT Police Officers

CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) Officers are police officers who have been trained to deal with mental health crises. CIT officers are better able to safely and effectively work with a person living with a mental illness.

If the need arises to call the police due to a mental health crisis, you can ask for a CIT officer to be sent.

(Correction Officers can also take the training.)
