Step Up For Kids with Tom Osborne -2011

In recognition of the difficulties facing children in Nebraska today, several organizations in the state organized a Step Up for Kids day which happened October 11 at the State Capitol in Lincoln. Alphabet Soup Kids (A.S.K.), Behaven Kids, Boys Town, Building Bright Futures, KVC, NAMI-NE, NASW-Nebraska Chapter, Nebraska Appleseed, Nebraska Families Collaborative, Nebraska Family Support Network, and Voices for Children in Nebraska were the supporters and organizers of the rally that worked to raise awareness about the difficulties children have in accessing the support they need.

Susan Gourley, a former Lincoln school district superintendent, served as the emcee and kicked off the event. Former U.S. congressman and University of Nebraska-Lincoln football coach Tom Osborne spoke about his Teammates mentoring program and the importance of spending time with children as a role model and supporter.
